Delhi is facing a sharp rise in Influenza B and H1N1 cases, with over 50% of households reporting flu-like symptoms. Experts warn of severe complications if untreated and urge preventive measures.
Delhi is witnessing a sharp surge in seasonal flu cases, with Influenza B and H1N1 (swine flu) emerging as major culprits behind persistent upper respiratory infections. A recent LocalCircles survey revealed that 54% of households in Delhi report symptoms such as fever, sore throat, cough, headache, stomach issues, joint pain, and breathing difficulties— signs commonly associated with swine flu.
According to Dr. Sanjeev Kapoor, Program Clinical Director-Internal Medicine at Marengo Asia Hospitals, these viruses can affect all age groups, including children and the elderly. He warned that if left untreated, complications like pneumonia and bronchitis may occur.
Furthermore, experts have advised preventive measures like masking, hand hygiene, and isolation when symptomatic to curb the spread.
